History:
This Lioness on her prey is considered as one of the artist's masterpieces, which he had designated as the representative of his painting and as such, worthy of inclusion in the biography dedicated to him by Charles Terrasse. While he was appointed in 1952 to the Royal Academy of Belgium, it is one of the works chosen by Jouve to exhibit at the Royal Society of Zoology of Antwerp in 1954. The Belgian and French customs stamps are still visible at the back of the painting. It was then kept in the painter's studio before being sold to the father of the current owner.
